A botanical garden focused almost entirely on the Cerrado — the dry savannah biome that surrounds Brasília and covers a fifth of Brazil. Trails wind through 4 km² of native vegetation: gnarled trees with thick fire-resistant bark, orchids, palms, and bromeliads. The visitor centre has a small museum on Cerrado flora and fauna and a Japanese garden.
Wildlife — marmosets, agoutis, occasional crab-eating foxes, dozens of bird species — is sometimes more visible than at the city's National Park. Open Tuesday to Sunday; small entry fee.
