The "Little Catete" is a small wooden house on stilts, built in just ten days in 1956 to serve as Juscelino Kubitschek's temporary residence while he visited the construction site of Brasília. Costa, Niemeyer and the president stayed here through the early phases of construction, with no electricity for months.
It is now a small museum preserved exactly as JK left it — period furnishings, his sleeping room, the dining table — about 20 km south of the city centre. A quietly evocative side-trip for anyone interested in the building of Brasília. Free; closed Mondays.
