Brasília National Park

425 km² of protected cerrado, with natural pools to swim in

A surprisingly large slice of protected wilderness just north of the city — 425 km² of Cerrado savannah, gallery forest, and clear sandy-bottomed streams. The signature attraction is the Piscinas Velhas and Piscinas Pedreiras, two sets of natural rock pools fed by spring water, where you can swim with small fish.

Trails of varying length lead deeper into the park — Capivara (1 km, family-friendly), Cristal Água (around 5 km), and the longer Cristal Mineiro. Wildlife includes maned wolves, giant anteaters, marmosets, toucans and seriemas — particularly visible early and late. Small entry fee; gates open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
