Salzburg's natural history museum is one of the best of its kind in the Alps — five floors covering dinosaurs, big aquaria, a reptile zoo, an Apollo space capsule, and an immersive science centre that pulls in school groups by the busload.
The reptile zoo on the top floor is unusually large for a city centre museum — six-metre pythons, a tropical hall with free-flying parrots, and an excellent aquarium with Mediterranean and tropical tanks. Allow a full half-day with kids; two hours is enough for adults.
