A small dedicated museum on Residenzplatz housing one object: a 26-metre circular panorama of Salzburg painted in 1829 by Johann Michael Sattler, who showed it for years touring Europe in a special tent. Standing inside the rotunda you see the city as it was nearly two hundred years ago, mountain by mountain, building by building.
Plan thirty minutes — there are pull-out drawers below the painting identifying every visible building and street. Entry is included with the Salzburg Card.
