The Stiegl brewery at the western edge of the city has been making beer here since 1492 and now operates a large visitor centre — a working museum that walks you through the entire process, ending with three free tastings in the brewery taphouse.
Worth the half-hour from the old town (bus 1 from Hanuschplatz). The Brauwelt restaurant serves classic Austrian fare with the freshest possible Stiegl Hell. Save it for a wet afternoon.
