The narrow forested ridge that rises directly behind the old town is a 500-metre limestone cliff with footpaths along the top, viewpoints over the city, the Modern Art Museum near the western end, and several remarkably good little wood-and-stone shelters from the 19th century.
A lift from Anton Neumayr-Platz climbs straight to the top (€3.70 return) and saves the climb. The walk from one end of the ridge to the other takes about an hour. Best at sunset.
