A 1950s-styled coffeehouse on Stubenring opposite the MAK, with original mid-century interior — green leather banquettes, marble tables, Formica counters. Café Prückel has resisted modernisation more than most and retains the character of post-war Vienna better than the older, grander cafés.
Cakes are excellent (the Mohnstrudel is particularly recommended), the staff are very Viennese in their indifference, and live piano runs three nights a week. Open from 8.30am.
