Stadtpark

Vienna's first municipal park, opened in 1862 on the line of the demolished city wall, with the Wien river flowing through the middle. Statues of composers cluster along the paths — the gilded Johann Strauss memorial under his stone arch is one of the most photographed sights in the city.

The park has the Kursalon concert hall (popular Strauss and Mozart concerts), the Meierei and Steirereck restaurants, and a winding network of paths and ornamental flower beds. A useful green pause between the Innere Stadt and the third district.
