Buekorps Museum

The Buekorps (archery corps) are one of Bergen's most idiosyncratic traditions: companies of boys, organised by neighbourhood, who march with drums and bugles in military formation through the city streets every spring. The custom dates to the 1850s and has no real parallel anywhere else in Norway. This small museum tells their story with photographs, uniforms, and instruments.

The museum is compact — an hour is enough — but it illuminates something genuinely distinctive about Bergen's civic culture. The Buekorps companies take themselves seriously, keep detailed records, and maintain fierce neighbourhood rivalries. If you are in Bergen in May, you may see them marching.
