Gamlehaugen is the Norwegian royal residence in Bergen, a turreted early 20th-century mansion set in public parkland by Nordåsvannet. The building has the look of a small castle, but the grounds are often the easiest part for visitors to enjoy.
Come for a walk in the park, the lakeside setting, and the view back toward the residence. Interior access is limited and seasonal, so check ahead if that is the goal; otherwise Gamlehaugen works well as a calm detour south of central Bergen.
