The National Theatre

The National Theatre stands on Ole Bull's square in a monumental Art Nouveau building. It is important in Norwegian theatre history: Ole Bull founded the theatre, Henrik Ibsen worked here as an instructor, and the stage helped establish Norwegian rather than Danish as the language of performance. Even if you are not seeing a show, the building is worth a look while walking central Bergen.
