Elektrownia Powiśle is a carefully converted 19th-century power station on the Vistula embankment, transformed into a mixed complex of shops, restaurants, bars, and cultural spaces. The original turbine halls, chimneys, and industrial infrastructure have been preserved and integrated into the design. During the German occupation it was a centre of resistance activity, sheltering weapons and printing anti-German newspapers.
The riverbank outside has been developed into one of Warsaw's liveliest summer areas: terraced bars and restaurants face the water, with views across to the Praga district. The wider Powiśle neighbourhood, stretching south toward Łazienki Park, is one of Warsaw's most fashionable areas for eating and drinking.
