An elegant 18th-century neoclassical palace built on an island in the middle of a lake, within Warsaw's largest park. The "Palace on the Water" was built for King Stanisław August Poniatowski in the 1770s and is one of the finest surviving examples of Polish neoclassicism. The surrounding Łazienki Park is beautiful and well worth an afternoon's walk. Outdoor Chopin concerts are held at the park's amphitheatre on Sunday afternoons in summer.
