Łazienki (Royal Baths) Park is the finest green space in Warsaw and a genuine pleasure on any warm day. The 76-hectare park is home to the Łazienki Palace, several smaller pavilions, an open-air amphitheatre overlooking a lake, a neoclassical theatre on an island, peacocks wandering the paths, and a monument to Chopin where free concerts are held every Sunday afternoon from May to September.
The Chopin concerts on the amphitheatre lawn draw hundreds of people; locals bring picnics, tourists sit on the grass, and a pianist performs in front of the famous sculpture of the composer beneath a willow tree. The concerts run from noon to 4pm in two sessions. The park is also just a pleasant place to walk — the paths are long and shaded, the lake gives good reflections of the palace, and the peacocks are entirely indifferent to human visitors.
