Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is a large park on the Baldwin Hills, with some of the best wide views over the Los Angeles Basin. Trails climb through scrub and open slopes to viewpoints that take in downtown, the Hollywood Hills and, on clear days, the coast.
The park also has a lake, picnic areas, sports fields, a Japanese garden and a visitor center, so it works for both a short view stop and a longer walk. Weekend and holiday shuttle links from the La Cienega/Jefferson Metro station make it easier to visit without a car.
