Daming Lake North Shore and Huibo Tower

The north shore of Daming Lake has the most elaborate historic architecture in the lake park: the Huibo Tower (Meeting Waves Tower) projects on a platform over the water, its three-storied wooden structure with curved roofs and painted beams reflected in the lake below. The adjacent Beiji Temple and the small island pavilions in the lake create a scene that has been reproduced in Chinese ink paintings since the Tang Dynasty.

The north shore is the most popular evening promenade in Jinan — families, couples, and groups of older residents gather here at sunset when the lake turns gold and the city lights begin to reflect off the water. The lotus flowers in the lake's northern section are most visible from the north shore walkway; they bloom July through September. This is also where boat hire operates — small rowing boats available by the hour for ¥30–40.
