Jinan's Yue Temple (dedicated to the martial deity Yue Fei) is a modest but atmospheric complex in the old city northwest of the spring area. The temple was rebuilt substantially in the Qing Dynasty and contains the standard sequence of courtyards and halls, with painted warrior figures and inscribed stone steles. Yue Fei — the Song Dynasty general who became a symbol of loyal resistance against northern invasion — is a particularly venerated figure in the area because his campaigns took place largely in the Shandong region.
The temple is small enough to see in 20–30 minutes and is quieter than the major spring parks. It fits naturally into a walk through the old city district.
