Shandong Revolutionary History Museum

The Shandong Revolutionary History Museum covers the province's role in the anti-Japanese resistance and Communist revolution from the 1930s through 1949. The collection includes weapons, documents, photographs, and personal effects, with particular attention to the Yimeng Mountain resistance base and the role of Shandong in the Communist consolidation of power. The framing is patriotic but the underlying history is real and significant.

For visitors interested in modern Chinese history, this is a useful complement to the ancient and imperial heritage elsewhere in the city. The Shandong Eighth Route Army's campaigns in the Yimeng Mountains are presented in more detail here than anywhere else, and the photographic record of wartime Shandong is extensive. Entry is free.
