The Painted Animation Lane (Caihui Dongman Xiang) is a single block of narrow streets in the city's south-east, painted floor-to-ceiling with scenes from anime, video games, and Western cartoons. The murals were started in 2013 by local artists looking for a way to draw foot traffic back to a fading neighbourhood; the project has since expanded to the surrounding walls.
It is small — fifteen minutes is enough to walk the whole loop — and best visited in the morning before the sun is overhead. There is a tea stand and a single small shop selling postcards. Free.
