Old Town Square

Medieval square with the Astronomical Clock and Tyn Church

The heart of Staré Město, unchanged in shape since the 12th century. The square is framed by the twin spires of the Gothic Týn Church, the baroque Church of St Nicholas, and the pastel townhouses of the Old Town Hall. On the hour, every hour, a crowd gathers to watch the 15th-century Astronomical Clock perform its procession of the apostles — a slightly anticlimactic but much-photographed piece of Prague theatre. A Jan Hus monument stands in the centre.
