The long residential district stretching north from the centre between Töölö Bay and the western shore. Built up between the 1900s and the 1930s in a transition from national-romantic to early functionalist, Töölö feels more spacious and quieter than the inner city — boulevards lined with linden trees, neighbourhood butchers and bakers, and the old Töölö stadium and Olympic Stadium on the eastern fringe.
The Sibelius Monument and Hietaniemi cemetery and beach are at the western edge. The Finnish National Opera, Finlandia Hall, the National Museum, and Oodi library form a culture row on the eastern shore of the bay. Easy to walk from the centre in 15 minutes; tram 4 or 10 if you'd rather ride.
