The story of Finnish design from the late nineteenth century onward, in a converted school building at the heart of the Punavuori design district. The permanent display runs from late nineteenth-century craft revival through interwar functionalism (Aalto stools, Iittala glass), the golden decades of mid-century product design (Saarinen, Tapio Wirkkala, Marimekko), to contemporary work.
A small temporary exhibition space hosts changing shows on individual designers or themes. The shop is one of the better museum shops in town for serious design books. Combine with a wander through Punavuori, where the city's design and antique stores cluster around Korkeavuorenkatu and Annankatu.
