A red-brick neo-Renaissance market hall completed in 1889 on the harbour quay beside Kauppatori. The current configuration is a long arcade of about thirty small specialist food stalls — fishmongers, charcuteries, cheese shops, bakeries, a couple of sit-down cafés — every one a serious place. The Bergh cured-fish stand for graavilohi, Story café for a salmon soup and a glass of wine, Soppakeittiö for a Finnish soup-of-the-day lunch.
Open weekdays 8–6 and Saturday 8–4; closed Sunday. Quieter and more pleasant than the outdoor market in winter; in summer it is busy with cruise passengers.
