The Grgurina Palace is the handsome early 18th-century building on Trg Bokeljske Mornarice that now houses the Maritime Museum. It was built by the Grgurina family, sea captains and merchants who made their fortune in the Mediterranean trade, and the symmetry of the facade — with its central balcony and ground-floor portal — is typical of Boka baroque.
The museum itself is the subject of its own entry, but even if you do not go inside, the exterior is worth a few minutes. The square in front, Trg Bokeljske Mornarice, takes its name from the Boka Navy, the medieval seafaring guard whose annual procession still passes through the square on St Tryphon's feast day.
