Basilica and Catacombs of San Sebastiano

The Basilica and Catacombs of San Sebastiano stand on the Via Appia Antica, over one of Rome's early Christian burial complexes. The first basilica was built in the 4th century for Saint Sebastian, though the present church is largely 17th-century.

The site was one of Rome's traditional Seven Pilgrim Churches until the Jubilee of 2000. Visit for the layered religious history, the catacombs and its place in the Appian Way landscape.
