Palazzo Massimo

Palazzo Massimo is one of the main branches of the National Roman Museum, a short walk from Termini station. Its collections are especially strong on classical sculpture, coins, mosaics, and frescoes from ancient Roman villas.

The museum is a good choice when you want major Roman antiquities without the crowds of the Forum or Vatican Museums. Allow time for the painted garden room from the Villa of Livia and the bronze Boxer at Rest.
