Kuala Lumpur City Centre — KLCC — is the modern downtown of KL: a wedge of land bounded by Jalan Ampang to the north and Jalan P. Ramlee to the west, dominated by the Petronas Twin Towers and ringed by the city's tallest office buildings, five-star hotels, and the KLCC Convention Centre. It was built in the 1990s on the site of a former horse-racing track and remains the city's financial and business heart.
For visitors KLCC is essentially the Petronas Towers plus the Suria KLCC mall at their base, the KLCC Park behind, the Aquaria under the Convention Centre, and the air-conditioned walkway east to Bukit Bintang. The Mandarin Oriental, Traders, Fairmont, and Grand Hyatt are all within five minutes' walk, and the area is well served by the KLCC LRT station.
