The 452-metre Petronas Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 until 2003 and remain the tallest twin towers ever built. Designed by Argentine-American architect César Pelli, their stepped silhouette is based on an eight-pointed Islamic star, the cladding is mirror-finished stainless steel, and the joining Skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors is the highest two-storey bridge in the world.
You can book timed tickets — online and well in advance, or in person from a quota released each morning — to visit the Skybridge and the 86th-floor observation deck. The full tour takes about 45 minutes. The towers are spectacular at any time, but the best free view is from the lawn of KLCC Park at the base, especially at dusk when the lights come on. The Suria KLCC shopping centre fills the six-storey podium underneath.
