Restored Chinatown alley depicting 1950s KL life through murals, lanterns, and heritage shophouse installations

A formerly derelict back alley in Chinatown — Lorong Panggung — restored in 2019 with a series of immersive murals depicting Cantonese street life in 1960s KL: gangsters, mahjong players, schoolchildren, a fruit seller, a fortune teller. The name means "Little Demon Alley", supposedly a reference to the small boys who used to scamper through the lane making mischief.

The alley is now lined with restored shophouse cafés, cocktail bars (Concubine, Botakliquor, PS150 the speakeasy at one end) and small design shops. Worth a half-hour wander between Petaling Street and Jalan Sultan, especially after dark when the murals are lit and the bars come alive. The entrance is marked by a low decorative red gate off Jalan Petaling.
