A delightfully dusty technical museum at the southern edge of Carol Park, named after the engineer who founded the first Romanian polytechnic school. The collection covers Romanian engineering history — early steam engines, telegraphy, radio, electrical machinery, Romanian-built cars, an entire submarine cut in half — and the displays themselves, mostly unchanged since the Communist era, give the whole place an unintentional retrofuturist atmosphere.
The basement holds a working model of a hydroelectric station and several rooms of vintage telephones. Open Tuesday to Sunday; entry is very cheap. Pair with a walk through Carol Park and a visit to the Mausoleum at the top of the hill.
