Sala Palatului

Socialist-era congress hall used for major concerts

Address Strada Ion Câmpineanu 28, Bucharest

A 1960s congress hall built on the site of the demolished Royal Palace stables, used for Communist Party congresses and now repurposed as Bucharest's main large-scale concert venue. The building is a textbook example of late-modernist Romanian state architecture — a curving glass façade, a vast lobby, and a 4,000-seat hall with shallow tiered seating.

It hosts the biggest international touring acts that come to Bucharest, along with the major orchestral concerts of the George Enescu Festival in September. Check the programme; even when there is no event, the lobby is worth a glance for the period architecture. Located on Strada Câmpineanu, around the corner from Revolution Square.
