A surprisingly engaging natural history museum that has been entirely modernised since 2011, with interactive exhibits, atmospheric lighting, and clear English-language captions. The headline exhibit is the mounted skeleton of Deinotherium gigantissimum, a prehistoric elephant relative twice the size of any modern elephant, found in Moldavia in 1890.
The displays cover Romanian fauna in detail — wolves, bears, lynxes — alongside global collections of beetles, butterflies, and birds. Children love it and the museum is small enough to see in a couple of hours. Tucked behind the museum, the small dinosaur park has full-size casts that delight younger visitors.
