Tineretului Park is one of Bucharest's big everyday green spaces, built for the southern districts rather than for postcard views. It has a lake, broad paths, playgrounds, sports areas, and enough space to make a proper escape from traffic without leaving the city.
Travellers do not need to cross town for it if time is short, but it is useful if you are staying nearby or want to see Bucharest away from the Old Town and grand boulevards. The metro makes it easy, and the park works best as a walk, picnic, or slow afternoon with local families around you.
