A contemporary arts and social centre in a 1920s Monte de Piedad building on Ronda de Valencia, at the southern edge of Lavapiés. The Fundación Caja Madrid runs it as a deliberately open space for contemporary art exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, and community events — with a consistent focus on social issues, sustainability, and marginalised voices.
Exhibitions are free or very cheap and often better than what the more prestigious museums are showing. The rooftop has a vegetable garden and regular pop-up events. The bookshop is good for contemporary art publications. A genuine alternative cultural centre rather than a corporate CSR exercise. Metro Lavapiés or Embajadores.
