Longoria Palace is one of Madrid's showiest modernista buildings, built in 1902-03 for the banker and politician Javier Gonzalez Longoria. Its swirling stonework and iron details stand out even in Chueca's dense historic streets.
The building is now used by the Spanish society of authors and editors, so visits are normally limited to the exterior. It is still worth a short detour for the facade, entrance hall, and staircase glimpsed from the doorway.
