A 110-metre observation tower in the Moncloa university district, completed in 1992 and looking like a slightly stretched UFO mounted on a single concrete column. The viewing platform at 92 metres up gives a clear 360-degree view across central Madrid — from the Palacio Real and Almudena Cathedral in one direction, the Cuatro Torres business park in another, and the green sweep of the Casa de Campo to the west.
Lifts run every twenty minutes, ticket €5. Less crowded than the better-known viewpoints, and slightly higher than the Palacio de Cibeles. The neighbouring Museo de América (Inca gold, Mayan codices, colonial silver) is well worth combining with the visit. Metro Moncloa, then a five-minute walk.
