Bidston Lighthouse stands on a hill on the Wirral, far enough inland to make its role in marine navigation feel unlikely at first glance. The present tower dates from 1873, but the site has guided ships on the Mersey for much longer. It is a niche stop, best paired with a walk on Bidston Hill rather than treated as a standalone trip from central Liverpool.
