Mamilla Cemetery is an old Muslim cemetery just west of the Old City, with graves of Muslim leaders and an ancient pool once used as part of Jerusalem's water system. It is not a manicured sightseeing stop, but it gives a sharp sense of how layered and contested the ground around the Old City can be.
The site has also been at the centre of modern controversy over development plans around the cemetery. It is worth a short, respectful stop if you are walking between West Jerusalem and Jaffa Gate.
