The Old City is the centre of everything — four quarters (Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Armenian) packed into one square kilometre inside the 16th-century Ottoman walls. The Western Wall, Dome of the Rock, Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Via Dolorosa are all within a 15-minute walk of each other. Outside the walls, the Mount of Olives and the City of David are both short walks from the Old City, and the Israel Museum and Yad Vashem are in West Jerusalem. Give it at least three days; a week is not too long.
