St. Anne's Church

St. Anne's Church is a Crusader-era church near the start of the Via Dolorosa, built between 1131 and 1138 over the site traditionally linked with Anne and Joachim, the parents of Mary. Its plain stone interior and powerful acoustics make it one of the Old City's most memorable churches.

The church fell into ruin after the Crusader period but survived with much of its Romanesque character intact. Visit it with the nearby Pools of Bethesda for a compact stop that connects archaeology, pilgrimage, and medieval architecture.
