The Tombs of the Prophets are a catacomb complex near the top of the Mount of Olives, above the Jewish cemetery. Local tradition links the site with the prophets Haggai, Malachi, and Zechariah, though the tombs are generally dated to the 1st century AD rather than the biblical period.
The chambers are dark and simple, with kokhim burial niches cut into the rock. Bring a flashlight or use a phone light, and combine the visit with nearby Mount of Olives viewpoints and churches.
