Gudiashvili Square is one of the nicest spots in the old town — a small, slightly irregular square lined with 19th-century buildings, mature plane trees, and the Georgian State Art Museum at its edge. The scale is human and the atmosphere unhurried; locals sit at the outdoor tables of the cafes here, and the art museum's neoclassical facade provides a backdrop worth photographing.
The square is close to both the Anchiskhati Basilica and the Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theatre, and makes a natural gathering point between the two. The plane trees provide good shade in summer; in autumn the falling leaves and warm light make it one of the most beautiful corners of the city.
