Tbilisi Philharmonia Concert Hall

Tbilisi's main concert hall near Rustaveli, hosting classical and folk music

The Tbilisi Philharmonia concert hall on Melikhishvili Street is the main venue for classical music in the city, home to the Georgian State Philharmonic Orchestra. The building dates from the Soviet era and the acoustic quality inside is considered good. The programme includes orchestral concerts, chamber music, and occasional appearances by visiting soloists.

The surrounding area — around the junction of Rustaveli Avenue and the streets leading toward the Vake district — is one of the more active parts of the city in the evenings. A concert here followed by dinner in a nearby restaurant makes a pleasant evening. Tickets are inexpensive by European standards; the season runs September to June.
