Rike Park occupies the left bank of the Mtkvari directly across from Metekhi Church and the old town. It was redeveloped in the 2010s from wasteland into a well-kept urban park with fountains, open lawns, and a series of modernist structures that divided Georgian opinion sharply when they were built.
The main reason most visitors come here is the cable car to Narikala Fortress — it runs from a station in the park up to the top of the fortress ridge, saving a steep uphill walk and providing good aerial views on the way. There are also outdoor concert facilities and an open-air stage that hosts events in summer. The park is a pleasant starting point for exploring the old city: take the cable car up to Narikala, walk down through the fortress, and descend through the sulphur bath district.
