The Mtkvari River cuts through the heart of Tbilisi, and the embankment walk between Metekhi Bridge and the Bridge of Peace offers some of the best continuous views of the old city. On the right bank, the terrace above the river gives a clear sightline to Metekhi Church on its cliff and, beyond it, to the domed rooftops of Abanotubani and the Narikala ridge above.
The riverside path is well-maintained and popular with walkers, cyclists, and families in the evenings. From Rike Park the cable car ascends to Narikala, making a circuit possible: walk along the river, cross the Bridge of Peace, take the cable car up to the fortress, walk through the Old Town, and return by the river.
