Shardeni Street is a short pedestrianised lane in the old town that has become one of Tbilisi's smartest eating and drinking addresses. The street runs parallel to the main Sioni Street and is lined with restored 19th-century buildings housing restaurants, wine bars, and art galleries. It is more curated and polished than the surrounding lanes — some find it almost too polished — but the architecture is genuinely attractive and the outdoor terrace dining on a warm evening is hard to beat.
The restaurants on Shardeni cover the full range from traditional Georgian to contemporary fusion; prices are higher than elsewhere in the old town but not unreasonable. The street links to Erekle II Street, which has a similar concentration of wine bars and is worth exploring as a continuation.
