The Iberian Gate connects the northwestern end of Red Square with Manege Square, and is the surviving ceremonial gate of Kitai-gorod. Its twin hipped roofs and small chapel make it one of the compact landmarks around the square.
The gate was rebuilt in its historic form after Soviet-era demolition. Pause here before entering Red Square: the nearby bronze plaque marks kilometre zero of Russia's road network, a small detail that gives the spot extra symbolic weight.
