The Peter the Great Statue rises nearly 100 metres above the Moskva River, a huge monument by Zurab Tsereteli built to mark 300 years of the Russian Navy. Muscovites have argued about it for years, which is part of the fun: it is hard to ignore, whether you admire it or not.
