Ivan the Great Bell Tower rises above the Kremlin's Cathedral Square and was completed in 1508. Its stacked octagonal brick drums narrow toward a gilded dome and cross, making it one of the Kremlin's most recognizable vertical landmarks.
The climb is part of the appeal: a spiral stair leads up through the tower to an observation deck with close views over the Kremlin churches, Red Square, and central Moscow.
